Digital Therapeutic App Resony receives Innovate UK grant
Resony, a digital mental health company, today announced that it has received a grant from Innovate UK, the UK’s Innovation Agency, for its digital therapeutic to manage anxiety disorders. The grant will be used for product development and to complete regulatory approvals to start commercialising the innovation within the NHS.
In the UK, over 8 million people experience an anxiety disorder at any one time but less than 50% of them get access to treatment. Access to interventions, such as antidepressants and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is improving but demand outstrips supply with an estimated 2 million people on the NHS waiting list with anxiety symptoms. Thousands of new wellness and meditation apps have entered the market, but less than a third of them meet safety and evidence standards to support users and build confidence amongst clinicians to recommend them.
Digital therapeutic apps such as Resony bridge this barrier by delivering medical interventions directly to patients using clinically evaluated software and can support NHS improve access to evidence-based mental health support and reduce backlogs.
